Prep work continues; paving begins on Clark Avenue
Published on March 20, 2026
Lakewood’s street repaving project continues Tuesday, March 25 along Clark Avenue (from Del Amo Boulevard to the northerly City limits) and is expected to last approximately three weeks.
Crews will work Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding legal holidays.
There may be short periods when driveways are temporarily inaccessible. Emergency vehicles and all essential services will have access throughout the project.
Prep work that began March 9 with crews doing concrete improvements, lowering manholes and installing curb ramps will continue north on Clark ahead of the paving construction beginning at Del Amo Boulevard.
What to expect:
- Lane closures will occur and motorists may experience delays when driving through the construction area.
- Trash pickup will continue as usual.
- Regular street sweeping will pause during paving; contractor Hardy & Harper will sweep the area once a week.
- Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted where restrictions apply.
- Please avoid running water onto the street while crews are working.
- Please follow all posted “No Parking” signs to help the work move smoothly.
The repaving project uses transportation-dedicated dollars funded by a mixture of sources (Proposition C, Measure R and Measure M exchanged funding), ensuring no impact on the city’s general fund.
This approach continues Lakewood’s unique pledge to repave 100% of its streets—an achievement already reached once and now sustained through ongoing reinvestment in the community’s infrastructure.
